Each year our Coats For Kids Program distributes over 2,500 free new winter coats for needy children at 8 elementary schools in the East Dallas Area. In addition, with help from Half Price Books we give out over 20,000 children’s books every year to those same “at risk” kids. Through a partnership with the Essilor Foundation we provide free vision screening and, if needed, free glasses to children who otherwise could not afford either.
We also provide these same elementary schools and J.L. Long Middle School with items they need for student advancement and achievement which are not provided by the DISD budget. Past examples are:
Violins for Mata Elementary School to establish a string orchestra,
A set of 25 IPads for Mt Auburn Elementary to further that school’s S.T.E.M. initiative,
A set of 75 Kindle Fire tablets for Geneva Heights Elementary to assist with their efforts to gain acceptance into the International Baccalaureate program for primary schools, and
Music stands for the J.L. Long music program.
We are engaged at Woodrow Wilson High School as well, assisting students in need and supporting various academic and extracurricular activities. Each year ECED provides more than $40,000 in college scholarship aid for deserving Woodrow graduates with financial need.
The money raised from generous tournament sponsors goes directly to support all the charitable activities mentioned above and so much more. We simply can’t do all that we do without the help and generosity of the community.
A great way to support the charitable activities of ECED is to join us as a sponsor of the Dallas Junior Golf Championship. Please download and review the Sponsorship Form and find a level of support that you or your organization will commit to the work of the Exchange Club of East Dallas for our community and our kids.
The Public School Children of East Dallas appreciate your support and encouragement! And on behalf of ECED, we say THANK YOU!
