J.L. Long Middle School Locker Room

At JL Long Middle School, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to grow, compete, and succeed—but outdated facilities are holding us back. We’re launching a bold initiative to renovate and expand our locker rooms and training facility, creating a space where all students can participate in athletics and take pride in their school.

Key facts:

• 450 students participate in athletics year round
• Athletics participation has increased by 70% over the last two years
• Long is the only DISD school to field multiple teams per season in multiple sports:
  • 4 football teams (7^th and 8^th grade, 132 athletes)
  • 6 basketball teams (3 boys / 3 girls; 61 athletes)
  • 5 soccer teams (3 boys and 2 girls; 72 athletes)
  • 84 Cross Country runners (boys and girls)
  • 3 baseball teams and 2 softball teams (68 athletes total)
• Long Athletics also supports student athletes from 5 DISD Magnet schools

Thanks to a generous $35,000 gift from the East Dallas Exchange Club, we are already on our way. Now, we’re reaching out to partners like you to match and exceed this gift—ensuring every student has access to modern, safe, and inclusive athletic facilities.
